Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a new Rector for this parish, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Another IHN Interruption
Unable to find a host congregation next week, IHN will be housing families in an East Orange hotel. A small kitchen allows them to prepare supper. Donations of or toward Shoprite cards are welcome.

Drumming Camp
August 20 – 24, 2018 
Once again St. Stephen’s Church will host a week-long summer drumming camp for children in the PATCH program (these are children with incarcerated parents.) The camp will take place from August 20 to 24, from 3:30pm – 7:30pm. The camp is staffed by volunteers who help to coordinate snacks and dinner, arts and crafts, sports and games, and we leave the drumming instructions to a pro, Yah’ Ya Kamate who has worked with us for many years, and Kim Williams who you know well! If you are interested in volunteering at the camp please contact Susan Dinan at susandinan@yahoo.com If you want to hear a lovely concert from some very enthusiastic drummers please join us on Friday evening, August 24, 2018. James D. Hicks Organ Recital
September 8, 2018 at 5pm
NJ-based organist James D. Hicks presents Nordic Journey, a recital of organ music from Scandinavia at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, located at 119 Main Street, Millburn, NJ, on Saturday, September 8 at 5:00 p.m. Not only is this a musical event, but a fundraiser for the New Jersey Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. James is in the midst of a multi-year fundraising endeavor for NJCFF, one that will culminate in a scheduled 2020 hike of the St. Olav’s trail, a medieval route located in Sweden and Norway.
James’ program for September 8 features the magnificent sounds of the church’s von Beckerath organ, and consists of music that he will record later in the autumn at the Halgrímskirkja, Reykjavík, Iceland. Hicks has commissioned several of the works on this concert of Scandinavian music, and the program will be a unique view into a musical tradition that encompasses many style: blues, jazz, classical and historic.
The audience is invited to contribute to this fundraiser by visiting HIcks’ website at www.hicksnordichike.com where one can make a secure and tax deductible contribution. Checks and cash donations are also welcome at the performance with all proceeds going to the NJ Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
