To the Cemetery and Mausoleum

CIMG0706The entry to the St. Stephen’s Cemetery and Mausoleum (The Chapels at Short Hills) is at 451 Millburn Avenue, just opposite Millburn High School. The road leading from Millburn Avenue into the cemetery runs past the historic Cemetery Cottage and winds throughout the cemetery grounds to the Mausoleum found at the far end of the property. There is a small parking area in front of the Mausoleum.

Our narrow roadways originally served as paths for travel by horse and carriage. When a large number of cars are expected it is necessary for all vehicles to follow the same entry and exit path. If you are attending a graveside service or an entombment in the Mausoleum attendants will be on hand to guide you to parking.

From Millburn Train Station
If you are traveling to Millburn by train, it is less than a mile’s walk to St. Stephen’s Cemetery. The New Jersey Transit train station is between Glen Avenue and Essex Streets. From there, exit onto Lackawanna Pl or walk down the stairs to Essex Avenue. Travel towards Main Street on Essex Street. Continue on Essex Street past the Wells Fargo Bank on the left where the road curves around and continues as Millburn Avenue. You will pass Duncan Street and Bodwell Terrace on the right. There is a black wrought iron fence just past Bodwell Terrace that leads to the entrance gates to St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Turn right and follow the road up a slight incline to the cemetery grounds. The Mausoleum is at the far end of the property.
