Evening of Discernment: God is Calling – How Will You Answer?

Tuesday, April 24 2018, 6:00PM

At Episcopal House
This conference, hosted by the Commission on Ministry, will provide an overview of the discernment process.
Those expected to attend are the people discerning their next steps in ministry (called Aspirants), their rectors and all members of their Discernment Committees. Individuals who want to attend by themselves for information and exploration are also invited. Those considering ordination should have already contacted the Commission on Ministry.
The role of the Discernment Committee is very important at the early stage of the process. We have found that this conference helps the Committee members understand better what is expected of them, their subsequent meetings with the Aspirant and the report they will submit to the COM at the completion of their meetings.
A light supper will be offered.
To register by Friday, April 13

African-American Spirituals
During this season of Lent, you will notice the use of spirituals in our worship each week. As we modern-day Christians observe Lenten practices, spirituals can serve as expressions of lament for the suffering, sorrows, and oppression we see in our world; as expressions of longing to follow our faith where it leads us; and expressions of hope for freedom from that which keeps us bound. The spirituals used in our services are taken from The Hymnal 1982 and from Lift Every Voice and Sing II, the African American Hymnal of the Episcopal Church.
